| Spencer's Mountain is a small subdivision in the Smoke Rise area. All
60 of the lots are owned by the 58 homeowners. Most of the homes were
built by four primary builders with the first home built around 1990. Very
few homes are similar in their design or floor plan adding to the uniqueness
each family brings to their home. Lot sizes begin at a little less than one acre as required
for septic systems. According to one neighbor, the story behind the name is:
"The
original developer, Larry Ross, always loved the movie by that name....and named
the subdivision after the movie. Not very interesting...but true. Larry grew
up somewhere around this area and used to play as a child on this land and the
land behind our subdivision. He was very excited when he got the chance to
develop it. He also tried to purchase the adjoining area...but lost out to
another developer. Not long after that he sold out to Nelson."
Our neighbors include families with small and grown children, empty nesters,
retirees and multi-generation families. There are a number of professions
including medical, legal, technical, financial and a number of people who own
their own businesses. Those who have chosen to list their businesses can
be found on our services page.
We do have a homeowner's association which meets once a year and manages the
association budget and projects. There are several committees including
landscape, recreation, and architectural review. Contact
information is available on this site. Vendors who would like to bid
on projects will find an application and any
current requests for proposals and quotes on this site.
If you are buying a home in our neighborhood, you will find our association
